Houndsharks

Triakidae

Size Range – 1.5ft-7ft

They are characterized by their two large, spineless dorsal fins, an anal fin, and oval eyes with nictitating eyelids.

Houndsharks can be found worldwide in tropical to temperate waters. They are also found along the coast at depths of up to 6000ft.

Bony fish, Cephalopods, Crustaceans, and small Invertebrates.

Most species are nocturnal, actively feeding at night.

Most Houndsharks like to dwell along the bottom of the sea floor, but some can be found mid-water as well.

There are over 40 different species of Houndsharks.

They are considered harmless to humans.

The Leopard Shark is a popular shark among many aquariums.
